Maya Hairston-Chase (She/They)
Illustrator & Artist
Maya Is an Illustrative artist whose artwork is based on activism, representation, and the joy/experience of those who are not commonly seen in media. Their experiences as a queer, black, person create an understanding of the ways in which systems have actively ignored and harmed historically.
By creating artwork that focuses on seeing people just as they are and refusing stereotypes, they work to inspire equity and offer people of minoritized groups a view that feels correct and fulfilling. They can often be found cooking, singing, or doing some sort of art project. Sometimes all at once.
